As a way of introducing students to professionals in the Arts, Upland hosts several visiting artists each school year. These artists spend anywhere from one day to one week at Upland showing various classes their particular craft. Through working closely with visiting artists, students are exposed to new mediums and techniques and are given new cultural perspectives. Past artists to visit Upland have been Mateo Rondi, an Italian Mosaic artist, Veranique Desnoues, a French Gilder, Linda Beiler, a wheat weaver, and storyteller Linda Fang. Additionally, the Walnut Street Theater Acting Troop has visited several times to perform short plays addressing various social issues and historic events and to lead acting workshops for Upper School students.
In addition, our faculty periodically participates in arts events and activities in the community. Currently -
Terry Anderson presents TREES, paintings from Chester County, Provence and the Canadian Near North.
