Figure skates, or hockey skates and an ice skating helmet. Bike helmets do NOT cover the back of the head properly as needed for safety reasons in skating class. Ski helmets and horse back riding helmets are fine. Figure skate rental information is available HERE.

Fourth and Fifth grade GIRLS:

Fall:
Field hockey stick, shin guards and mouth guard.

Winter:
Ice hockey skates, ice hockey helmet, ice hockey stick, ice hockey gloves and a mouth guard

Spring:
Girls Lacrosse stick, lacrosse goggles and a mouth guard

Fourth and Fifth grade BOYS

FALL:
soccer shin pads. Soccer cleats can be worn if desired.

WINTER:
ice hockey skates, hockey helmet with cage, hockey gloves (elbow pads are suggested) hockey sticks, and mouth guards that attach to helmets.

SPRING:
lacrosse equipment: sneakers (cleats optional), a lacrosse stick (a mesh pocket is recommended for beginners), lacrosse gloves, arm pads, a helmet, shoulder pads and a mouth guard. Sticks can be cut down to make them easier to handle but cannot be any shorter than 40 inches from the top of the head to the bottom of the shaft. In order to make our teams look more uniform, we ask anyone who is buying a new helmet to buy a black one. It is all right to use another color if you already have a helmet. We recommend "Cascade" brand helmets. It is the parents' responsibility to maintain the helmet (check for loose screws and worn padding, etc.) throughout the season. Mouth guards may be purchased in the bookstore for $2.00.

The above-mentioned equipment can be found at most local sporting goods stores. Lacrosse International in Downingtown and Kelly's Sports in West Chester offer 10% discounts on sports equipment to Upland families. The Pond in Newark De carries the best selection of hockey equipment.

* Please see the calendar for the UCDS used equipment sale in September, for purchasing equipment at very reasonable prices!!!
