Now in its second year at Upland, the Nine Holes Anywhere Fall Invitational set out with a renewed mission: to expand sponsorships and player participation in support of both the Upland Annual Fund and St. Michael’s School & Nursery in Wilmington, Delaware.
For years, St. Michael’s has been the charitable beneficiary connected to Nine Holes Anywhere, and when the tournament found a new home at Upland, organizers made it a priority to continue that tradition. Moving forward, a portion of tournament proceeds will continue to support St. Michael’s School & Nursery as part of the event’s ongoing commitment to service and community impact.
This year, Upland was proud to donate $1,750 to St. Michael’s School & Nursery, which serves infants through preschool-aged children, many of whom are at or below the poverty line and receive Purchase of Care assistance. St. Michael’s and Upland share a commitment to educating the whole child through academics, arts, and attitude — a mission that continues to strengthen the partnership between the two communities.
Founded by Bill Dugdale, Nine Holes Anywhere is a unique hybrid of golf and croquet that combines strategy, precision, and friendly competition. While the name remains, tournament play now features 18 holes, with winning better-ball partners earning the coveted Red Mallet trophy.
The event once again brought together players, supporters, and sponsors for a memorable fall tradition on Upland’s campus — and plans are already underway for next year’s tournament, returning to Upland in early Fall.
